I often asked what books I recommend to read. I think everyone has a book or two that has had a profound influence on their way of life. For my part, the audio version (English) of the book “Think and become rich” by Napoleon Hill remains my first choice.
Personal development: essential books
Personal development has existed for thousands of years, and it has been loved and hated for so long. The first ancestor of our development books comes from ancient Egypt, with a style of work called “Sebayt,” in which we shared advice on life (“Sebayt” means “teaching”).
“Personal development”: just type these words on Amazon for 28,228 references to come out.
Even restricting this search to books alone, 28,228 references are still displayed.
Twenty-eight thousand two hundred twenty-eight pounds of personal development argh!
How to find your way in this jungle?
Well, of course, I have read you are started all of these books. Famous as the author of a blog on books 😉.
But I’ve read a lot, and I’ve talked to hundreds of entrepreneurs who have read many, so here’s my selection of the essential books for personal development.
But wait, what is personal development?
There are, literally, hundreds of definitions for the term “personal development.”
Self-fulfillment, self-improvement, advancement, advancement in life in a positive way. In short, here are several synonymous with the word “personal development,” but nobody has agreed on a precise definition.
I mean, if you put ten personal development experts in a room and lock them up for a whole day so that they find meaning. By the evening, not only will no definition have unanimously, but there will have been deaths 😉.
So I’m not going to get into an endless philosophical debate. I’m going to give you my definition of personal development, which I think is consistent with most of the others:
“Personal development is the conscious practice of improving, growing, in short developing, in the areas of life that matter to us to become freer and happier in the process of success.”
It is a comprehensive definition. And somewhere, everyone is looking to become freer and happier right?
Certainly. But what differentiates those who practice personal development from others is the conscious and active search for techniques. Methods and ideas that allow them to improve in the area that interests them and, for those who are serious about getting better, putting what they learn into practice.
Many people are in the process of improvement without knowing personal development, and it is perfectly OK.
But it’s better, of course, to do something knowing that you are doing it.
It allows us to have clarity that those who prose without knowing it does not have and to precisely search for resources that can help us achieve our goals.
So I selected the ten personal development books that I think are essential, which allow you to improve in the main areas of life.
